Congratulations!
When The American Journal of Political Science accepts a manuscript for publication, it achieves the status of an article. In preparing an accepted manuscript to become a published article, the author must carefully follow these guidelines.
The manuscript should include:
The manuscript will not be published unless the first footnote explicitly states where the data used in the study can be obtained for purposes of replication and any sources that funded the research.
The manuscript should follow the style guidelines of the American Political Science Association’s Style Manual for Political Science (rev. August, 2006) which is based on The Chicago Manual of Style (15th edition). The guidelines include, but are not limited to, matters of text style, citations, appendices, notes, references, and tables and figures.
Final versions of files must be in Word or LaTex. This must include all figures, tables, and supporting information. If you are sending a LaTex file, be sure to include any related files (a bibliography, for example) as well as a separate PDF file created from your final version.
Citations and references must be formatted properly. That is, citations should be listed in alphabetical order, with dates, in parentheses. References in the bibliography must be checked against citations in the text, as well as for accuracy of the spellings of author(s)’s names(s), journal, publisher, title, and page numbers.
To help with your preparation dowload the AJPS Style Guide The guide has been developed by former and current editors of the Journal of Politics and the American Journal of Political Science.
Submit the final version of your manuscript through Editorial Manager. When the editor approves the final version, the files will be transmitted to Wiley-Blackwell Press as well as our copy editor, Dr. Susan M. Meyer, at Ohio State University (meyer.26@osu.edu). She will manage your article through the production process.
Before publication, the contact author must sign and return a Copyright Release Form. The form will be emailed to you. Please fill it out and fax to 713.348.2334 or mail to:

The contact author receives a PDF proof of the article from Wiley-Blackwell Publishing. S/he has 48 hours to review it and return any corrections that must be made to the proofreader. Again, this is not an opportunity for major revisions of the proof. The proofreader then checks that all changes from the first-proof stage were made by the compositor. The contact author does not see the second set of proofs.
All authors receive two printed copies of the issue in which the article appears and one pdf copy of the article when the journal goes to press. If an author wants more than two copies, then s/he can order more using an order form included with the page proofs, or by requesting one (by e-mail) from Sharon Scalzo at sscalzo@wiley.com
Authors may track accepted articles through production by registering for Author Services at Wiley-Blackwell Online Library.
